Golf Maioris is set in a classic Mediterranean landscape of pine, olive and carob trees, and there are four lakes and two island greens. The golf course is easily walked for those who do not want to hire a buggy, suitable for all levels of golfers but requires extra care at certain holes, such as the 4th and 13th, where you could easily lose your ball to the water.
Golf Maioris begins with a gentle par 4, played to a green protected by three sand traps. This is merely a warm-up for sterner challenges, although the track has been designed to offer playability to golfers of all levels. Unusually, pine trees are situated in the centre of the fairway at the 2nd hole and there is some clever design greenside. Steep run-offs right, left and to the rear of the putting surface make precise approach play a necessity.
The 4th is the first of Maioris’ par-5’s and features an island green which will surely become a signature of the course. Most golfers will be able to reach this 539-yard hole in two, but for bigger hitters the margin for error between safety and water is slim. The par-3, 13th is another classic hole. Spanning 166 yards, the green is set over water and is defended by a carob tree and a series of molding. You will need to commit completely to your shot to succeed here – a timid approach will be doomed to a watery grave. Book at Golf Maioris now
