The Meloneras Golf Course was inaugurated in 2001 in the south of the island of Gran Canaria, Spain, is one of the latest additions to the growing list of golf courses in the area. This 18-hole (Par 71) championship course was designed by Ron Kirby, he adapted it to the landscape and integrated its natural form and beauty.
For example an obstacle on two of the holes is the ball being hit over so called “barrancos”, the typical Canarian valleys in the volcanic rocks; the layout was configured as a very technical golf court aimed at players with different handicaps and suitable for holding major international championships.
This was Gran Canaria’s first golf course to be built by the shore and as such uses a grass that has a high saline content to preserve the quality of the green. Set against the backdrop of the mountains this golf course offers stunning views out over the Atlantic.
Characterized by 9 holes with mountain views and 9 holes with beautiful sea views, three of which are located on the coast itself; the course has four tees per hole, making it very attractive for both professional and amateur players.
Meloneras has all the facilities you would expect in a exquisite golf resort, it also boasts all the latest high tech teaching aids in their golf school so anybody interested in learning to play golf, is able to do so with the aid of golf professionals and all the latest teaching equipment.
