The San Roque New was designed by Perry Dye and Seve Ballesteros and planned to be a real challenge for the low handicappers but also playable and enjoyable for the high. This course is a serious challenge, even before your short game is put to a test, the New has wider fairways than the Old and its five different tee positions will change the approach of each hole dramatically.
As for the layout, there are ten Par 4’s, 4 Par 5’s and three Par 3’s. The par 3’s are particularly impressive, with the shortest hole being 160 metres off the yellow tees. The placement of the tees is also impressive, giving tee shots over difficult terrain to greens surrounded by bunkers that are certainly extreme in places. Routed over and around a promontory, with several deep grassy expanses, the course is exposed to the wind, but its position also fantastic views over the Mediterranean, Gibraltar and Sotogrande.
If you play the San Roque Old course then you should take the time to include this golf course in your itinerary. Book at San Roque New with JustTeeTimes.
