Boavista Golf
Boavista Golf is an 18-hole championship golf course located in the Western Algarve on the outskirts of Lagos a city famous for its stunning beaches with beautiful rock formations and steep cliffs. Within 16th-century walls, the old town is made up of cobbled streets, seafood restaurants and Baroque churches, while some of the coastline’s best beaches, kayaking spots and surf schools are a short drive or walk away.
Boavista Golf offers you stunning views of the Bay of Lagos to the east and the Monchique mountains to the north, designed by Howard Swan the course opened at the start of the new millennium, taking advantage of the natural contours of the terrain and as a result, it presents plenty of challenge, especially on holes six and eight where you have to hit your ball across a ravine!
The course has established itself as one of the best courses in the area. The layout has been cleverly thought to preserve and integrate harmoniously the area’s natural terrain.
In the southwest corner of the layout, holes 6, 7 and 8 at the highest point of the course use the natural contours of the terrain really well to form an interesting triangular loop, with the par-three 6th and par-five 8th requiring forced carries across a rather intimidating ravine.
On the back nine, holes generally descend towards the clubhouse, with the right doglegged, 390-metre 15th regarded as the toughest hole on the card. The 418-metre 18th shouldn’t be underestimated either, veering right off the tee to a heavily sand-protected home green.
In the clubhouse, you will find an extensively stocked golf shop as well as superb dining facilities. In the well-equipped health club, a wide range of treatments is on offer. The impeccable services at Boavista Golf are completed by an excellent golf academy.
