The Oceanico Old Course is the original and eldest golf course at Vilamoura, this Frank Pennink designed parkland style layout is renowned all over the golfing world. Surely that this challenging course will prove to most desired of any golfer’s itinerary while on a golf holiday in the Algarve, however, you should no to forget to book your tee time well in advance.
Inaugurated in 1969 the course it is laid over and around gentle sloping hills with tree lined fairway sit meanders throughout impressive pine trees — the principal hazard – over gently undulating natural terrain, and poses quite a stern test. Host to the Portuguese Open (1970, 1979,) a golfer playing well will find it delightful.
The course was completely renovated and modernized by Martin Hawtree in 1996 although no major changes were made to the magnificent layout; the Oceanico Old Course is often described as the Grande Dame of Algarve courses. Get your tee time at The Old Course now.
