Oceanico Pinhal Golf Course in Vilamoura, was originally designed by Frank Pennink and received several refinements were incorporated over the years, the most significant one by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1985. The course is an exciting mixture of British and American style holes, a challenging game has many of the holes are long with a variety of dog legs.
The course is covered with a variety of pine trees, the front nine playing around the houses that line the fairways; the back nine offering up some more space and views of the sea beyond. To keep up with modern technical advances in clubs and balls, several holes have recently been lengthened and the par-72 course now measures 6,353 meters off the white tee markers.
