Salgados Golf Course, is set on the flat lands behind the sandy beach of Praia de Galé between Albufeira and Armação de Pêra in the Algarve, Portugal, the proximity of the sea and the variety of lakes make this a very interesting test of golfing skills, different from other courses in the Algarve. The original project is by the Portuguese designer Pedro de Vasconcelos, with more recent contributions from other Portuguese architects.
Restyled by Robert Muir Graves this links style course, with the 15th hole running alongside the beach, it is playable to golfers of all abilities. Replete with water obstacles, is not very long, yet you will need all your skills to reach the greens, The accuracy of the drive is crucial for achieving good scores, thus making the course a pleasant experience, especially for technically skilled players.
In this par 72 course the eighteen holes are well balanced, as each half of the course has two Par 5 holes of around 500 meters and two Par 3 holes of more than 170 meters. To compensate for the amount of water, Salgados Golf Course has only semi-rough and the length has been restricted to 6080 metres from the championship tees.
